Night Comes On

Night comes on
Silently the beasts come
When most animals are gone
Only the horses stay unlike some

White, black and brown in coat
When the going gets tough they surely can run
A wild horse hates being put in a float
Daily they have fun
Underneath the sun

They are horses brave, valiant and true
They don’t run while the bell of danger rings
True of heart, brave of soul
Death does not seem possible while the wind sings

All year round the battle for freedom continues

Sun burns and snow blows, in spring foals are born
On the other side of dawn
