Week 5 Writing

Week 5:

Describe a day in your life if you were famous

I woke up at five thirty. I slowly sat up and pushed the blankets away. Then I remembered this was going to be my Super Rugby Aōtearoa debut tonight (I was playing at 10) vs the Blues. Suddenly a huge smile spread across my face. I donned a Chiefs hunting jacket and adidas shorts before walking into the kitchen. I got myself a berocca and walked over to the couch.

That night I drove to the Chiefs training ground. When I got there only two other players were there. Naitoa Ah Kuoi and Tupou Vaa’i. Probably since they lived together. I went over and talked to them. When the whole team arrived we got on the team bus and drove off.

When we arrived thousands of people cheered as we walked into the changing rooms. Hanging there on the wall was my shirt below my picture, name and chiefs number. In the middle of the chest was my name, the date and feat written. Tears came to my eyes as I thought how long I had been waiting and pursuing this moment. I sat down on my bench next of Xavier Roe and stared at my shirt in my hands. It was funny how for so long I had had Xavier as one of my idols yet today we would be playing together. He tapped my shoulder and said “Better get ready mate” and started pulling his shirt over his head.

Sean Wainui

Sean Wainui is a profesional rugby player from New Zealand he currently plays for the Waikato Chiefs, Maori All Blacks and Bay of Plenty Steamers. In the past he has played for the Canterbury Crusaders, NZ under 20s and Taranaki. He has played 10 games for the Maori All Blacks and holds the record for most super rugby tries scored in a match (5). I concider him as one of the best wingers in the world even though he hasn't played internationally for the All Blacks.
