You are my Sunshine

5 ways to protect yourself from the sun are:

Slip, Slop, Slap and Wrap

*   Wrap on sunglasses - check their UV rating and if they are wrap around and close fitting they're better.
*   Slop on sunscreen at least 20 minutes before going outside and reapply every 2 hours, especially after being in the water or sweating.
*   Slip into the shade of a tree or umbrella and plan activities for in the morning or later in the day when the suns UV rays aren't so strong.
*   Slip into long sleeved clothes to give your skin more protection.
*   Slap on a sunhat that protects your face and neck.

  1. Hi Andrew!

Awesome work with this activity - you have listed some awesome ways to stay safe in the sun! So important to know living in New Zealand too, our sun is so harsh and being sunburnt is horrible.
I had a friend visiting from America once and he didn't believe me when I told him how strong the sun was... He learnt pretty quickly and became the sunblock timer reminding everyone to reapply! :)

I haven't heard slip, slop, slap and wrap for a long time!
When I was little it was a pig that used to talk about being sun smart and that was what he used to say too!
Here he is if you want to check him out (Very cute):

Hopefully you have been staying safe in the sun during the school holidays?
    No sun burn for you?

Great work Andrew - you are powering through these activities... You Summer Learning Journey will be all finished soon, wow!

    Nga mihi,
    Ellee :)
