Sailing to a new land

Dear Friend We have been sailing for 16 days now and there is still no sight of land. The weather has been horrible and we lost some supplies overboard and two of the casks holding water have sprung leaks so have decided to reduce our food rations to half. In spite of everything we are all still enjoying ourselves, mainly because of the stories we tell at night about what the new land will be like. It is a great adventure. I hope everyone at home is doing well. From Andrew

  1. Hi Andrew,

Ruby here from the Summer Learning Journey team. It's great to see that you have been working through these activities! Well done!

This is a great letter. It's awesome to see you use your imagination like this! I really like how you have talked about the water supply leaking and how this meant they had to ration the food. Running out of fresh water would have been a problem for the original settlers. What do you think they would have to do if they did run out?

Another great thing you have done is talked about the stories they shared with each other to entertain themselves. What sorts of things do you think they would have said about the new land?

I look forward to reading more of your blog over summer.
    Cheers,
    Ruby.
