SLJ - Own Choice - Patrick Mahomes
For my own choice for week 1 I have chosen Patrick Mahomes. He is an American Football Quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs. He is famous for winning NFL MVP in the first season of his career and making the Semi-Finals of the Superbowl. He has many nicknames like: Showtime (Because of his stylish passes like no look and weak hand), The Musician (Because of his love for music and how he can lead a team so well) and The Gunslinger.
Patrick Lavon Mahomes II is an African-American professional footballer who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs. In his first season in the NFL his stats were: Passing Yards: 5097, Threw 50 touchdown passes, 4 game winning drives, 75% passing completion, Longest touchdown pass: 91 and is the youngest player ever in the hall of fame being only 23.
He inspires people by his flashy passes and amazing leadership like in the game where Texas Tech (The College he went to) were down 10 - 66 but his inspiring speech made his team come back and win. Also that it doesn't matter what age you are (Most good Quarterbacks are in their 30s) but he in only 23 and still can win MVP and lead teams

SLJ - Defying the Odds
I have chosen more than one NBA player some of these NBA players are not as popular as LeBron James but I didn't wan't to do as well known NBA players. One of these is the reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. But Paul George also made it to the last 3 in the MVP discussion and Damian Lillard is know the 4th best 3 point shooter ever.
1. Giannis Antetokounmpo:
Question 1: How easy was it for you to become the most athletic NBA player after being very skinny and small before the NBA?
Question 2: What do you think your best traits are Dunking, Blocking etc.
Question 3: When did you decide to practise Defending, Post playing and Athleticism more than threes, shooting and post up layups?
Question 4: How did you learn all of the Dunking techniques that you use Euro Step Dunk, Post Dunk, Tomahawk etc.
Question 5: If you were the Bucks GM would you keep the same with Giannis Antetokounmpo, Eric Bledsoe, Kris Middleton, Brook Lopez and Malcolm Brogdon or would you sign one NBA player of you choice LeBron, Steph Curry, KD, Paul George ect.
2. Paul George
Question 1: What inspired you to be such an amazing parent like skipping games if you daughters were sick and taking time to go fishing with them and stuff?
Question 2: Why even though you 6 foot 7 inches do you shoot threes a lot more than posting up?
Question 3: If you could chose any team you have played for or LA Clippers which team would you choose?
Question 4: Do you really enjoy being the villain for the Indiana Pacers after leaving them to OKC?
Question 5: Now who is the better player out of you and your sister?
3. Damian Lillard
Question 1: How do you plan to have a great rapping career as well as Basketball?
Question 2: Is there a story or reason for you new shoes Dame 6 if so what is it?
Question 3: How do you shoot from deep so well consistently?
Question 4: How difficult was it to pass Stephen Curry to be the 2nd best shooter in the NBA?
Question 5: Is there a reason for your rapping name Dame D.O.L.L.A?

SLJ - Setting Sail
If I was setting sail for a long sea voyage I would pack these 10 items of food:
1. Droewors - Because it is high in protein and fat so will keep me going for longer, also it will last for months. It is a South African food and translates to 'dry sausage' and I think it is delicious, we make our own.
2. Dried Fruit - I like the taste of most dried fruits and they also last for ages without spoiling, the Vikings used to take dried fruit on their journeys.
3. Rice - It lasts for ages and if you eat it it gives you high energy. The Spanish Armadas used to take this on their voyages.
4. Salted Fish - Lasts months without spoiling and I think it would be interesting to eat - I like fresh fish.
5. Beef Jerky - Because it lasts ages.
6. Apples - Because they last for 6 months to a year and they are delicious.
7. Pasta - It lasts for ages and is delicious to eat.
8. Honey - Can last for the large time between 2 months to 7 years and can sweeten up plenty of foods.
9. Rolled Oats - Because it lasts for 5 to 10 years and sometimes I quite like to eat them.
10. Unsweetened chocolate - I don't like chocolate much at all but it lasts for a long time and might be a nice change when I got sick of everything else.

Poems
These are some poems I made. In these poems I have one Haiku. A Haiku is a very short form of Japanese poetry in three sentences going in the order 5 syllables 7 syllables and then 5 again. One Cinquain. A Cinquain is a class of poetic forms that employ a 5-line pattern. Earlier used to describe any five-line form, it now refers to one of several forms that are defined by specific rules and guidelines.

Battle of Bannockburn, (June 23–24, 1314), decisive battle in Scottish history whereby the
Scots
under Robert I (the Bruce) defeated the English under Edward II, expanding Robert’s
territory and influence. By the time of the battle in 1314, all of Scotland had been cleared of
strongholds loyal to Edward II with the exception of the besieged Stirling Castle, which the
defenders had promised to surrender if they had not been relieved by June 24. Edward is
estimated to have assembled an army of some 13,000 infantry—bolstered by a contingent of
Welsh archers and roughly 3,000 cavalry.

Returning to Scotland, Robert waged a highly
successful guerrilla war against the English. At the Battle of Bannockburn in June 1314, he
defeated a much larger English army under Edward II, confirming the re-establishment of an
independent Scottish monarchy. Two years later, his brother Edward Bruce was inaugurated as
high king of Ireland but was killed in battle in 1318. Even after Bannockburn and the Scottish
capture of Berwick in 1318, Edward II refused to give up his claim to the overlordship of Scotland
. In 1320, the Scottish earls, barons and the 'community of the realm' sent a letter to Pope John
XXII declaring that Robert was their rightful monarch. This was the 'Declaration of Arbroath' and
it asserted the antiquity of the Scottish people and their monarchy.

For seven years, the Bruce and Comyn tried to rule Scotland together, but they
hated each other with a passion, and both had claims to the vacant Scottish throne.
In 1306, the two argued and Comyn was stabbed to death by Robert the Bruce – in church.
As a result of this, the pope excommunicated Robert, and Edward I made him “outlaw.”

How Snow is formed anamation
This is my anamation of how snow is formed. I didn't now this before I reserched it. This is extremly interesting. Thank you for viewing my blog.
How Snow is Formed
I think it doesn’t rain much in Hokitika because it snows a lot on the east
of the south island but not much on the west. The southern alps block
the snow so it can’t get over to the west side.

I think snow is formed by raindrops that freeze and then the air
changes the consistency and colour changes.

- What is snow?
- How is snow formed?
- Why does it snow in other places in NZ but not Hokitika?
- What conditions does snow need to form?
- Why does snow settle in different places in hokitika but not others?
What does an explanation need?
- Writing to explain how something happens
- True facts
How Snow is Formed
I have researched and found out that snow forms when tiny ice crystals
in clouds stick together to become snowflakes. If enough crystals stick together, they'll
become heavy enough to fall to the ground. Snowflakes that descend through moist air
that is slightly warmer than 0 °C will melt around the edges and stick together to
produce big flakes. Snowflakes that fall through cold, dry air produce powdery snow
that does not stick together. Snow is formed when temperatures are low and there is moisture
in the atmosphere in the form of tiny ice crystals.

When Mum picked me up on our Hokitika snow day the car said it was 4 degrees
C which would explain why the snow at home didn’t stick to the ground for long
and melted when we tried to catch it - the temperature was too warm.

I think it doesn’t snow much in Hokitika because we are too close to the sea, we have
milder temperatures with a lot of rain. I also believe it snows a lot more on the East of the
South Island than on the West because the snow clouds cannot get over the Southern Alps.

It is interesting that New Zealand has such a diverse range of climates.
Most regions belong to the temperate zone with 4 definite seasons.
There are big variations for example the West Coast is extremely wet but Northland is
subtropical.

Snow rellies a lot on the temperature depending on if it will fall. If the temperature
is very cold it will fall heavily and will stay on the ground for longer however if it is warmer
then it won’t fall as heavy and will ether evaporate straight away or will last a few minutes
slowly evaporating. Bibliography

Andrew - The White Mouse - What is a hero
This week in Ruma Kereru we have been doing reading. The subject is what is a hero. My group has been readig 'The White Mouse' this is a book about Nancy Wake a WW2 hero that before the war worked as a reporter. While in Austria she saw some Nazi Gestapo whipping Jews this inspired her to help the French when the Nazis invaded france in 1940. At the start all she did was take an unused truck and turn it into an ambulance for injured soldiers. Then when the Allied forces left Dunkirk in December 1940 she retreated over the mountains into spain. But she got caught by the french police that was know entirely german soldiers. But her friend tricked them into letting her go. On her second attempt to get to spain she had to jump off a train so she didn't get caught by the Gestapo. On her sixth attempt to get into spain she finnaly made it. From there she sailed to Portsmouth from there she went to the Special Operation Execuative (SOE) when she went back to france she was a secret agent.

Sea turtles screencastify
In Ruma Kereru for the past few weeks we have been writing explanations about sea turtles. An explanation is when you write to explain how something happens or explain about something. Then we made some pictures so we could screencastify it. This is my screencastify. I created a flow-chart to show the steps involved.
