Poi Rakau

I chose Poi Rakau as my traditional Maori game because i liked it is a training game for warriors.
The aim of the game is to trough the Rakau to each other in the circle.
Two rules are don't drop the Rakau and don't hit another player with the Rakau.

I haven't played this game before but we do similar things in rugby training.

Ka Pioioi

I liked this waiata best because I liked the song Ka pioioi1 e Tohu aroha haukāinga E hoki mai rā Kia kite atu i tō iwi e. E rotarota2 ana E katakata ana mai rā. Pūkana3 whetero4 mai I te ihi5 ā ō mātua.6 Kia kite atu ano I tō ataahua ai kanapa7 Pupuhi ai e te hau8 Kapohia āku roimata. Ka pioioi he tohu aroha haukāinga.9 This swaying dance shows the love of your home-town people. You've come back home, to see your people. There is gesturing and laughing with joy at your return, Eyes popping and tongues thrusting from the energy of those performing. I see again your beauty gleaming there caressed by the wind, and my tears are snatched away. This fluttering dance shows your home-town people's love.

Making a fashion statment

I prefer the clothing from the late 1940's because it looks smarter. In 65 years from now I think people will be wearing a mix of clothing from all of the ages. So they might wear a jacket with gold braid and blue rugby shorts.

Letter to Miss King

To Miss King

I would like to learn social studies and sign language. I think they would be really fun to learn.

In social studies we could learn about other countries and history.

My Aunt is a NZSL interpreter and she teaches people how to speak in sign language too. On Scarlett's birthday we had some hearing kids visit with their deaf Mum's and they could all speak sign language too. It is good being able to talk to the deaf people I have met.

I hope you can try and make these things happen.

Fashion in the 1970s

I don't like the patterned trousers or the tops of the shirts being done up.

I do like the button down shirts and that they are all wearing belts with gold coloured buckles. I also like their choice of colours.

My Future Self

I would like to do lots of things

I would like to design lego, play sports, join the Navy, breed horses and be a Historian.

MMP

I would choose to form a coalition with Mum and Pappa.

I would like to build more houses so everyone had somewhere to live.
Mum would like to work on unemployment and have more people working.
Pappa would like to work on the urban rural divide.

I think we would form a good government because we would get lots of stuff done.

Charles Upham was born in 1908. He was New Zealand's best soldier ever and earned the Victoria Cross two times! His first VC he earned for outstanding bravery and Gallantry at the battle of Crete in 1941 and he won his second one for lots of different things. He was captured by the Germans and tried to escape twice. Before the war he was a farmer in Canterbury and went back to it afterwards. He was 84 when he died in 1994.

One day I was walking along the deck of the ship when I heard a loud bang. I started to run as I saw smoke coming from the far end of the ship. I ran towards the room where my patients were waiting to receive treatment from the doctor. Just as I arrived at the door to their room I heard another loud bang and I...

Saw a short man with blonde hair in a black uniform and a pistol he was a Gestapo. He was lying on the ground groaning in pain a bullet in his thigh. Opposite him was a naval soldier wriggling then crying out in pain - the bullet from the German went strait through his arm. Quickly I took the guns and gave them to two Marines that came running in I grabbed a bandage roll and quickly bandaged their injuries. Two British soldiers arrested him and took him to the medical station for POW. Next their was a big bang and the water round the ship exploded. The ship was under assault! I checked on my patients they were fine for now. Bullet racks went off and I fell to the deck because a bullet grazed my head, there was a loud bang and I heard no more. The next week I woke up in a military hospital in Cario!

Art Deco

I give the Art Deco painting 3 stars out of 5.
I think it was good because it was clear to see and there was lots of detail.
I think it was not so good because I thought the colours were pretty dull and it made me feel a bit bored looking at it.

Silent Film

I watched 'The Lions Cage' and I really liked it.

It was about a person who got stuck in a cage with a lion who was asleep. He thought he was managing to escape but there was a tiger so he couldn't. He tried to shut up a noisy dog and when a lady came instead of helping him she fainted. Then the lion wakes up, walks over to him and walks away and lies down. The lady regains consciousness and opens the door but he thinks the lion is safe now so walks over to give it a pat. It roars at him and he runs away and climbs a pole.

I think I would enjoy going to see a silent film.

In Flanders Fields

I liked the poem, it makes me feel proud and a bit sad.

Some of my family fought in the world wars.

In the first world war my Great Great Grandfather James Milner was an infantryman who finished a Lance Sergent. He served 138 days in the army then he spent 2 years in France - 234 days, discharged on 9th of January 1919.

In the second world war my Great Grandfather Douglas Sullivan was a pilot and my Great Grandfather Andrew Gilbert was in the Navy - he was shipwrecked 7 times!

Hairy Maclary visits the farm

Out of the gate and off for a walk went Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's dairy

Dai and Whiskey the farm dogs showed him around

The dogs job is to help move stock

Behind the horses (Nosey, Georgie, Carrot, Monty and Milo) they trotted quite quick into the quarry for a little drink

The horses job is to help get people around the farm

They had a sleep with Chutney the sheep

Sheep produce wool and meat

They felt like a snack but Chocolate the goat preferred to eat oats

Goats tidy up weeds and have nice milk

Now they had to go and get Henry the cow

Cows make lots of milk and some are used for meat

Then Hairy Maclary went home, he'd had a big day on the farm
